I have a James Bailey Medders, which is my ggrandfather b in Ga May 6 1849 d. Sept 11, 1922 in Gotebo, Ok buried in the Odessa Cemetery Washita Co. Ok. He is the son of Theophlus Medders who m Martha C. McLin in Coweta Co. Ga 4 Aug 1831. Theophlus b 1813 was the adm. of William Medders' Will in Coweta Co Ga 19 Nov 1838. William was b 1763 and his wife was Elizabeth "Polly" Bailey but I do not have their marriage date or license. My grandfather, David Alexander, son of James B. Medders was named after his uncle, the oldest brother of James B. " David Alexander" I
found them in the 1850 Shelby Co. Ala family #379 Theophlus age 37, Martha 28,David A. 7 b Ala, Jonas (James)B. 3 b Ga
Next they are in Jefferson Co Ark 1860 Dwelling #508 with
Theophlus 48 b ga, Martha C 45 b SC, Francis E 17 b Ga, David A 14 b Ala, James B. 12 b Ga, Mary E. 9 b Ala, Wm T
7 b Ala, Martha A. 1 b Ark, Theophilus had aquired some land in Jefferson Co. Ark and also there was a James B Medders in Jefferson Co that was on the land records but to old for my James B. Medders. I have not researched him as yet. I have not found proof that my Theophilus is the son of William but could be a brother along with Rueben.
Several researchers have thoughts along this line but no documentation as yet. (that I know of)
Happy Hunting
