Metcalf, Medcalf, Mitcaff family history.
From my research I have found that Samuel Medcalf (Metcalf) born circa 1812 (date of death 01 Nov 1874) married Jane ? born circa 1821 (date of death 26 Jan 1880) and they had the following children:-
Ellen 13 Dec 1841 Derrycarn married Thomas Vennard
Ann 18 Apr 1843 Cloncore married John Cole
Anthony 14 Nov 1845 Cloncore
Mary Jane 09 Mar 1848 Cloncore married William Cole
John 27 Apr 1850 Cloncore married Sarah Jane Brown
James 25 Oct 1854 Cloncore
William 26 Feb 1857 Cloncore
Joseph 21 Jan 1859 Cloncore
Elizabeth 09 Jan 1861 Cloncore
At the same time Anthony Metcalf of Segoe & Sarah (Simonton) of Derrylard, James Metcalf of Cloncore & Mary (Forbes) of Ballinary, Robert Midkiff a weaver & Margaret Smyth of Derrykeevan were all married within a similar time frame and their children were born at Cloncore, Derrykeevan and Ballynary. I am trying to establish their relationship as I believe they may be related.
Where did Samuel originate from and what was Jane’s maiden name?
Did any of Samuel and Jane’s children emigrate and if so where to?
Samuel and Jane’s son John lived at Ballinary with his wife Sarah Jane Brown and they had the following children:- Jane Anne, Wilson, Lizzie, Ellen, Joseph, Mary, Margaret M and Gilbert.
Samuel and Jane’s daughter Elizabeth was my great grandmother and she had the following children:-
Ellen Jane 16 Apr 1887 Derrinraw ( married into the Ramsey family)
Lizzie 25 Feb 1890 Cloncore
Thomas George 18 Aug 1891 Cloncore
Joseph 28 Oct 1894 Derrinraw ( never married ?, died 1953?)
Mary 01 Nov 1897 Derrinraw (married into the McDonald family)
Annie Elizabeth 28 July 1901 Ballynary (married into the Stoddard family)
I would like to know what happened to Lizzie and Thomas George. Did Thomas George marry and did he emigrate, if so where to?
Was the father of Elizabeth’s children called Thomas George and what was his surname?
I would also like to trace photographs of any of the above family members.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
