Origin of Meares,Ireland.

Just came across this site by accident.Just to say that Meares are living in Co. Westmeath,Ireland.
However,I think Meares first came from UK at end of 1870's
or there abouts,first to Northern Ireland,and then came to the South.Also,the name seems to originate from Oxford,UK-if thats any help to you.
