There is considerable disagreement over when Edda was born, and when she married George Marlow.
Birthdate:Edda’s father, based on census records and his probate record, had three daughters, Edda and Keziah, both married at the time of his death (1828), and Polly (b. ca 1816).Of his two older daughters, one was born before or early in 1800, the other around 1810 or possibly earlier.
Using the 1840 Census records, when both Edda and Keziah can be associated with their respective husbands, Edda is the older of the two, and would have been born before the 1800 census on 4 Aug.
Marriage to George Marlow:
There appear to be two George Marlows -- one b. ca 1797, the other b. ca 1780.The George Marlow b. ca 1780 is most likely the son of George and Ellender Marlow of Wilson, Tennessee, who served in the War of 1812.
The George Marlow b. ca 1797 is most likelythe son of Thomas Marlow and Jerusha Lerace Asbury, who settled in Knox/Whitley county, Kentucky, where the Meadows families also lived. This the most likely husband of Edda Meadows.
In Census records for George Marlow of Warren County, Indiana, he consistently gives his age to suggest that he was b. ca 1797.This George Marlow was married to Edda Meadows at the time of her father's death.(Her children are listed among his heirs in his probate record.)He married twice after Edda's death, both marriages recorded in Warren County, Indiana. There is no record of his marriage to Edda in Warren County in 1830, in spite of information frequently posted on the internet to that effect.
George Marlow does not appear to have owned land in Lawrence County, IN, but, based on County Commissioner Order books for road repair crews, may have been living with, or very near, Isham Meadows, and seems to have moved with Isham to Montgomery County early in 1823.This is when Isham sold land in Lawrence County, and neither he nor George Marlow (nor Isham's son Riley) are included in road repair crews for that year, but are replaced by the individual who purchased Isham's property.
