Royal is not related to Gilbert's father Ranson(that I know of) , so they may be talking about Gilbert's wife. Her father was a Baptist preacher at Fishpond Baptist Church .
Father: James G. EDEN b: 06 Sep 1801 in SC
Mother: Harriett UNKNOWN b: 1805 in SC
Harriett may be Royal's sister.
Name: Royal Gibson
Residence: 1800 - Clarendon, Sumter District, South Carolina
1810 - Clarendon, Sumter, South Carolina
1820 - Williamsburg, South Carolina

Notes for Phineas (St Marks) Gibson:
I've found what appears to be a conflict of information regarding the
descendant of the two Pike Co. Gibson families. It begins with the
names Edward Larkin Gibson and Edwin Leonard Gibson. These two sons are
from different families according to the book by Margaret Pace/Page
Farmer, "One Hundred and Fifty Years in Pike County, Alabama...". A
transcriber seems to have blended the two families. I will separate them
until I can prove that they belong the way they have been transcribed.
I expect to find that the name of Phineas' father is James Gibson who
emigrated from Scotland and that Phineas had at least one brother who
might have been named Samuel B. Gibson, father of Edward Larkin Gibson
who is a separate and distinct person from Edwin Leonard/Lenard Gibson.
