I've run into the census age situation you describe with your A.J. Meadows.If you find the date the "enumeration" actually occurred, you will probably see that the census taker came earlier than August.Even if the enumeration is one day before your A.J.'s birthday, a careful census taker will not put down the age as 40, for example, when A.J. is actually 39 years, 11 months, and 30 days old.Not all census takers were careful, of course, but if you find those enumeration dates, those two censuses that listed him as x9 years old would possibly confirm the August birth month.
