Meador IndIan Connections

My name is Shoshone and I have recently discovered that I am a direct descendant of William Meador and Sarah Naomi Beam. They were my 4th Great granparents it seems. I found this out through DNA testing and shared DNA with a Meador descendant who resides in TX. We are 5th cousins. My Maternal family hails from Anson county and Various areas of South Carolina. I am a tribal member of one of the Peedee Indian tribes there in SC. One that was located in Beaver Creek area to be more precise were William Meador had some of the earliest Land Grants. My Maternal DNA is Native American (Haplgroup A). For those of you not familiar People of Native American Lineage fall into five haplogroups A,B,C, D and X. One of my earliest ancestors was a Kila Ashe whom we believe may have been William's and Sarah's daughter (Bethania) but not for sure as my ancestors dissapear and re-appear. She also had ties with the Clarks and Sweats in SC through her dautghter Malinda Bennett. They are all known Peedee Indian Descendants as well. This was verified through DNA testing. There were Meadors in Anson county as well. There was a court house fire wich may have destroyed records early on in Anson county history. I have a photo of Kila's grandaughter. This would have been William and Sarah Meadors Great Grand Daughter. She is Nearly full Native. Very Indian in apperance! Some of our family intermingled with other Indian descendants who had come into the area or who had been in the company of Indian Traders and intermarried with the Peedee Indians according to my family source. I have done research for over 25 years and strongly believe that since the Meadors are not documented on any Indian rolls and that there was an excerpt about them fighting off Indians on the land they had purchased in Fairfield SC (Peedee) that they therefore had contact with and intermarried with our people the Peedee Indians who were Indigenous to that area. Some of our people continuted to GA and beyond mixing with some Creeks according to the Tribal historian.

I thinks this solves some of that puzzle for the most part. My newly discovered relative also made note that many of the Meadors are very White in appearance being very fair complected. I am not and I am mixed ancestry but non the less a Meador Descendant.

I believe the Peedee ancestry came through Sarach Naomi Beam.

If anyone wished to view a photo of William Meadors Native American Great Grandaughter who was born around 1879 and died around 1960 and her son please feel free to contact me. If anyone wants to know more about the Peedee Indians and our tribe or this part of your heritage please feel free to contact me.
