Pat:
Thanks so much for sharing your Meador information. Actually, I don't know if I am related to the Meadors or not. Just some hunches I have. You did not mention, but I have seen some sources saying Mariah Meador had a sister named Zilpha? Is that true?
I'll tell you what I have. I am a descendant of John Deason and wife, Susan(some documents Susannah) Guin. In looking for informations on William Deason, their son, who lived in TX, a fellow researcher sent me a couple of pages out of a Navarro County, Tx history book, the article was a William Meador. They mentioned that he had a mysterious
entry in his bible, "William Deason, son of John and Susan Deason, was born 5 July 1817." So, that made me believe that perhaps Susan Guin's mother might be a Meador. But no one knows any Meadors who might have married a Guin.
In John Deason's War of 1812 pension papers, when Susan tried to collect a pension from John's service, a Joel Rushing swore that he knew the couple for years, that he was attending school at the time, when information that John Deason and Susan Guin were married. The Joel Rushing, son of Sarah Mariah Meador and Abraham Rushing, would have been about 14 when John and Susan were married. For years, I thought that Joel Rushing was the grandson of Enoch Deason, whose daughter, Milly married an Joseph Rushing, but I think they resided in Bedford Co, TN.
John and Susan Deason lived in Anson County, NC the first few years of their marriage, so did the Meadors. They both died in Union County, NC.
If there is no Zilpha Meador, I don't know where else to look.
Thanks.
