I have this birthdate for Joseph R. Meador:9 Sept 1818.I do not have a place of birth for him, but I know that he married Rebecca Smith Parham in Williamson County, TN, so I feel fairly comfortable assigning him that place of birth. From the Parham family Bible, I have the marriage date of Joseph R. and Rebecca Parham Meador as July 31, 1835.The same Bible gives his death date as Janury 25, 1848, and spells his name Meadow (in this place).
If Jasper N. Meador was born in Williamson County in 1818, it is possible that they were twins, I suppose, or that Jasper N. Meador was born very early in the year 1818, and Joseph R. Meador in September of the same year. This is assuming, of course, that they are brothers, and not cousins or some other relationship.
Perhaps Jonas Meador was the father of both of them, as appears likely.Jonas being born in NC about 1780 appears possible.Do you know who his wife was?As I said, my aunt lists her name as "Mary Meador."I wouldn't think that Meador was her maiden name, but that is possible, I suppose. This would make the Joseph Meador born in NC about 1775 my Joseph R. Meador's uncle, I think.
In going through all my stuff, I would think that all the Meadors in Smith County, TN, were relatives of the ones in Williamson County, but not necessarily in a direct line of descent.
I hate to appear so uncertain about things, but then, I really AM uncertain.I have a ton of stuff on the Parhams that has been documented, but nothing much on the Meadors that I can prove.
I do have this about Rebecca Smith Parham Meador's parents:
George Parham, b. May 3, 1774, d. November 6, 1849, Williamson County, TN.He married Elizabeth Hill on March 31, 1803, in Warren County, GA.She was the daughter of Joshua Hll and Sarah Parham. She was born October 3, 1784, and died November 4, 1855, in Williamson County.I have notes to indicate that Elizabeth Hill Parham and her mother-in-law, Rebecca Parham, are buried in Leipers Fork Cemetery in Williamson County.
George Parham bought from N. P. Hardeman on May 4, 1812, 103 acres for $800 on Murfee's Fork of the West Harpeth River. It was part of Hugh Leepers (Leipers?) preemption. It was bounded by James Nully's corner, now Mr. Hadley's, which stands on the north side of the Beaver Spring.Mr. Hadley was Ambrose Hadley, George Parhams's brother-in-law.
Again, HELP!
