I combined a couple of records that shouldn't have been combined. In one place it says William B. Mead died in Clarke County (Athens) GA. Here (from the Clarke Co. USGENWEB site) it says that he was in Macon. In the 1820 census William Mead was living in Clarke Co, with one young son and his wife, but no slaves, as it says here.

Rev. Walter Lanier was born in Clark Co., Georgia, near Athens, April 29, 1819. He was married September 1840, to Mary Eliza Meade of Macon, GA. Mary Eliza Meade was the daughter of a slave-owning planter in or near Macon, Georgia.
