He was born in Stratham NH and his parents were John Mead and Sarah Smith.

John B Mead in Orange, Vermont, age 29, born in New Hampshire
Wife Orpha Mead age 21
Child Char Mead age 1

1850 census
John B Mead in Randolph, Orange, Vermont, age 19
