Tell your friend to email me and I also can send her the snail mail address of Alta's cousin Helen McMellon who resides in MS she has lots of records on him to I believe
Helen does not have email and is having trouble with her eyes here lately but you can try and call her as well
to see if she is able to copy and send them to your friend
She will charge for copying and postage
(*I would use her as a last resort)
Tell her also that online is a website she can access Clarence Meachum's book
digitized on line Thanks to Prof William Meacham of Hong Kong
Meacham, Mitcham, Mitchum: Families of the South*. by Clarence Mitcham. Limited edition; Self published. 1974.

The library here at the University of Hong Kong very kindly agreed to make this book available as part of its digital collection. It can be consulted online, and anyone can save a copy to their hard drive or CD (click on the "Save a Copy" toolbar).
The ebook file is quite large (52 megabytes) so you will need a fast internet connection and a computer with lots of RAM memory. It also requires Abode Reader version 6 or higher. Best time to attempt the download is between noon and 5pm EST, which is the middle of the night in East Asia when internet traffic is minimal.
The scan was made from an old microfiche, so in places the text is difficult to read, but it is legible except in a very few places. Best view is at 150%. The photographs however are poorly reproduced.
Hopefully this web resource will help those who do not have access to the printed book. If your computer or internet connection can't handle the large file, a public library's computers should be able to.
Distribution of this free digital version has the permission of Clarence Mitcham's son, who is the copyright holder.
Prof William Meacham's family website
He does have this website
I do have some info on William's family however it is not organized enough to send and is packed away in boxes in my garage
I will one day get it organized as well
I mostly have stuff on the Alabama, Georgia and Texas Families
I do have files on Henry H Meacham b 1766 and Henry H Mitchum b bet 1760-1770 both of Anson Co NC and Nathaniel MItchum of Lincoln Co NC
The other families from NC are not totally orginized either
I have some from SC as well
My primary work is in Mitchum (any spelling) and Crockett Families in the United States
I am trying to discover the father of my 4th grandfather James Mitchum b bet 1783 and 1794 in North Carolina
He was in Sabine Co Texas after 1835 but before 1840 where he migrated to then became part of Shelby Co TX
It was once called the Tenehaw Dist
Tell your friend I hope this helps her
