Hello Hugh,
A copy of that pension file would be great. My email address is [email protected] was my 5-G Grandfather. I have been trying to get more information on the units he served in and if he was in any battles, but not much info yet. I paint military miniatures and wargame with them so I would like to get all of the information, if he was in a battle that is, and re-create his unit and the battle(s) in miniature. I found a Civil War ancestor, Milo F. Meacham, who fought for the Union and was in a sharpshooter unit. They were known as Birge's Western Sharpshooters and later became known as the 14th Missouri, then later as the 66th Illinois. He died in Corinth, Mississippi on Sept. 21st 1862. For now I am assuming he was wounded at the Battle of Iuka the day before and died of his wounds. I don't know if you have any use for this information or if Milo is in your line, but I am in the process of doing a re-creation of his unit. Lots of research is needed. This is not a hobby for one who doesn't like to crack a book.
Paul
