Drs. James and Banks Meacham, Union County, S.C.
Meacham Researchers:
First, I know very little about the Meacham family. I am of no kinship and need some help in identifying two Meachams whom I suspect were brothers who came to Union County, S.C.
Dr. James Meacham reported himself on the 1850 census of Greene County, Ala., as born in Va., and 61 years old (b. 1789). He married Lucy Coleman Glenn (b. 1794) in Union County, S.C., by at least 1822. They named one son as Banks Meacham. The family went to Greene County, Ala., probably in the 1830s.
The other man, whom I think was his brother, was:
Dr. Banks Meacham, born between 1790-1800, married Sarah Bowker (b. 1800-1810) of Union County, S.C. They moved to Gadsden County, Fla, prior to 1830.
Both of these men were medical doctors.
I have more information about them, but not who their parents were.
Can anyone identify these two men?
Cordially,
Bob Stevens
