Well done, Karen- its about time some one got into the records of this type.
If he was GRANTED administration he was either asked to do it or he asked to do this himself for some reason- I would think the later.
I looked for Thomas James using the search engine and it appears that there has been some work done on him so I suggest you do same because I could not beggin to copy all and I admitt the date 1666 cofuses me as the Thomas James father to[ Rev Thomas James who moved alot] by the look of things went back to England and died there 168-ish? in Boston, Lincolshire, England. (I looked at this last night and am doing from memory this AM so forgive any mistake please)
I am trying to find out if the Lion Gardiner descendants know if he mentioned Jeremiah Meacham in his personal papers. The accounts on the Long Island site don't. Lion came from Holland to England and proceeded on to Mass. and possibly wintered in Salem?- then to Connecticut to build Fort. When Lion went to Long Island were the first early settlers at Southold from Connecticut rather than Mass? I read that they were. The next group from Mass which includes Jeremy Meacham.
Some past researcher thought that his ( Jere Sr )first wife was Margaret Prisse which sounds like Price to me and he seems to have close association with Benjamin Price. A grandson of Jeremiah Sr was Benjamin?
Do you use the Access to Archives site that I was told of on this site? If not, give it a try- fabulous. PCC wills at PRO site is worth a look as well.
Pam
