will of Jeremiah Meacham who d. 1743 Windham, CT
Does anyone have a copy of the will of the Jeremiah Meacham who died 14 Apr 1743 at Windham, Connecticut? If so, it would be a great service to transcribe and post the same to this forum.
According to the Meacham "Family Book of Remembrance" (1952) by Leonidas D. Mecham, p. 84, "Jeremiah the second's will was made in 1729 when he was about eighty-five years of age.A copy is on record books at Willimantic, Conn.It carefully separates his first wife's children or their heirs from those by his second wife."
I would love to see this will.Sounds like it would solve the controversy over the various Jeremiah Meachams, and show that the Jeremiah Meacham who died in 1743 was the same Jeremiah who was born 3 Jan 1643/1644 at Salem, Mass., and that he married 1st Mary TRASK 11 Mar 1672 at Salem (4 children), and 2nd Deborah BROWNE 25 May 1693 at Salem (12 children). There are those who say that Deborah Browne was the wife of Jeremiah's son (Jeremiah Meacham III, b. 1673, son of Jeremiah and Mary Trask), but I believe that Jeremiah III married Freelove Bliss abt. 1698 and died in 1715.
Does anyone out there have access to records of Willimantic, Connecticut?
