I am not related to but am researchng the Trefethen/Trefethern family from Kennebunk Port, York Co., Maine. I have Charles L. Trefethern living in Manchester, Washtenaw Co., Michigan, he died here 16 July 1916, death record from local paper here said he was from Kennebunk Port and a wagon maker. I do find the James Trefethen/Trefethern family in Kennebunk Port in 1850 census, James born about 1801, wife Eliza born about 1803, both in Maine. Son Charles is listed as age 19 wagon maker, other sibling is Geo W. age 16. By 1860 Charles is in Michigan, parents James and Elisa still in Kennebunkport, with John H. Trefethen, might be another sibling he is 30, born 1830, not sure why he was not with family in 1850, was he a nephew????

Charles was married about 1859 to Ellen Morris, her dc said she was born in Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan. She died 1 Dec 1909.

Local Michigan paper says Charles visited parents in Sept of 1886 in Kennebunk Port, father was 88, mother was 86, they have always lived alone and done their own work.

Does anyone recognize this family in Kennebunkport??? Can anyone tell me if they might be buried in a town cemetery, I don't know anything about families there or cemeteries, or even how big Kennebunk Port is. any help would be appreciated.

Have found a lot of info about the Trefethen/Trefethern family from Rye, New Hampshire, not sure how the family there connects to the Maine family.
