I think this is coming a little late in the conversation, but I have been updating a database of New England Norwoods and have used the information from your conversation to do so. I wanted to ask a question.
In the 1850 census in Biddeford, we find
I'm giving relationships from Jonathan's point of view:
Nancy Norwood, mother
Ester Norwood (Hester?), sister
Lucretia Norwood (Lucinda or Catherine?), sister
Jonathan Norwood, self
Susan Norwood, sister
Mary A Norwood, ??? age 1 month, b. ca July 1850.
Who is Mary A Norwood? Whom does she belong to?
I also notice that there is an Abbie Norwood next door in Jonathan's brother, Albert's family, who is almost the same age or the same age as Jonathan's daughter Abbie.
In 1860, Jonathan Norwood is in the household of Thomas and Watie Gamage in Bristol, Maine, and Margaret Norwood. Following are:
Alice A. Norwood, age 16, b. ca 1844
Edward D. Norwood, age 14, b. ca 1846
Orin Norwood, age 9, b. ca 1851
Who are these children? Are then not Norwood but Gamage? I don't have them in my Norwood database.
In 1870, the same Jonathan has Lucretia Norwood, age 7, b. ca 1863, in this household. Is this the Lucinda you have been talking about? Alice and Orin are still there.
