Hi Shiela,
I was at the state archives and did a look-up for andrew Whitten I found no birth certificate for him.
I also checked the maine census index for 1870
I found ;
Andrew J.Whitten 36,M,W B-PL: ME YorK, Biddeford, Roll# 564, PG. 88

Olive Whitten 84, F,W,B-PL: ME YorK, Biddeford, Roll# 564, PG. 88
I didn't look at the census Film (NO Time), But if you can look it up I'm think this is him mother or Grandmother.

I also found them in 1950 , But in different homes.
Both in Saco , maine Andrew on pg 312 & Olive on pg.396
There are over 13 Whittens in saco & a couple in Biddeford.

Also By the 1870 census Andrew's Birth year would be 1834

Hope this was helpful.
Sheri
