Are you sure you didn't search for hours?
I have never had Ancestry-used NEHGS for a while. Years ago I used to trade local research with people who did have Ancestry. It was a good deal for both and sometimes went on for years. There are still a lot of Maine (and all places)records that are not on the net.
I have been doing a lot more history than genealogy for a long time so now I beg! I do try to repay that indirectly by helping people with odd problems and I do have some unique records.
I am going to "grind away" on this Thompson family but it very well may come down to finding a family member who knows.
You made it sound so easy!
