There is an article about the HOWE family in a book called "HISTORY OF WHITING, MAINE.

In the article there is mention of Pearl and Simeon Howe and about how important they were in the early days of of Whiting.

The article also says that the Howe family were among the earliest settlers of Whiting. The grandfather Micajah(?from New Jersey) had died before 1788 and his heirs were granted one of the original 100 acre lots.

Mercy (Foster) Howe's father was John Woodin Foster.

There is quite a bit more info but too much to type out.

The last that I knew this book was still available at:

Town Of Whiting, Maine
P.O. Box 101
Whiting, Maine 04691

The cost was reasonable when I purchased the book. I just called to find out the cost and the book is $14.00 plus postage and handling Telephone Number is 207-733-2027
