In Reply to: Susan Ethel Merriam (perhaps Miriam?) in Maine married to Edward Stevens by Bruce Blevins Gatling of 923

Vital Records Of Lubec Maine Prior to 1892 shows the following:
pg 32 04 Nov 1836 Hannah Stephens born to Edward & Susan
pg 37 18 Mar 1839 Wm Stephens born to Edward & Susan
pg 38 08 Sep 1841 Rebecca Stephens born to Edward & Susan
pg 48 15 Oct 1844 Charles Edward Stevens born to Edward & Susan
pg 48 11 Mar 1847 son Stevens born to Edward & Susan
pg 57 04 Jun 1850 Thaddeus Stevens born to Edward & Susan
pg 57 17 Mar 1854 not named Stevens born to Edward & Susan

The book begins in 1811 when the town was formed. There were no Meriam/Merriam or Stevens/Stephens in the 1811 census.

The book shows the following Meriam/Merriam names in the index:
Amanda, Augusta, Caroline, Clara, Elizabeth, Frank, Jacob, Joseph, Martha, Mary, Risbah, Rosilla, Thomas and William.

but the first birth from this line was Caroline Augusta Meriam born to Joseph and Caroline on 27 Aug 1842.
