Thanks for checking the names of petitioners. Apparently John was not involved. I noticed the name Brewer, probably the same family responsible for the cemetery. No, John H., Jr. was born in 1764, too late for the Revolution. Too bad the records before 1860 are gone. I wonder why, as usually they say; but my Maine Public Records Repository book gives no reason. About all that's left is deeds and probate, so perhaps sometime we'll get over to Machias. John's an interesting guy, had several wives and many children, and was divorced at least once (two separate times while in Kennebec Co.) Thanks again. Kathy
