My ancestor (ggggg-grandmother Martha Boober Knowlen Morrison) died at New Limerick Plantation, Washington County, Maine in the early 1830s. Some of her children would have been minors and orphaned but perhaps living with their step father Edmund Morrison. I am entertaining the idea of looking up a potential guardianship record but now New Limerick is in Aroostook County with records beginning in 1840. Am I to assume that Washington County is where I should search and which office would have any guardianship records? Would these records have been shipped to the Maine State Archives?
