“FUNERAL SERVICES WEW HELD MONDAY AFTERNOON, MARCH 10, 1924 IN HUDSON, MASSACHUSETTS FOR MRS. CONRADINE PETERSEN, WIDOW OF CHRISTIAN PETERSEN, WHO DIED FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 1924.

THE BODY WAS BROUGHT TO CALAIS, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MAINE FOR BURIAL FROM HUDSON, MASS.

SHE WAS BORN IN HELSINGOR, DENMARK IN SEPTEMBER 26, 1836, THE DAUGHTER OF THOMAS CHRISTOFFER KRAG AND ANE WILHELMINE (NOHR) KRAG. CONRADINE WAS EDUCATED IN PRIVATE SCHOOLS AND IN 1867 MARRIED CHRISTIAN PETERSEN, WHO AT THE TIME WAS SUPERINTENDENT OF HIS FATHER’S CEMENT WORKS. MRS. PETERSEN’S LIFE WAS SPENT IN DEVOTION TO HER HOME AND IT WAS A RARE PRIVILEGE TO KNOW HER INTIMATELY. BOOKS WERE HER CONSTANT COMPANIONS THROUGHOUT HER LIFE AND SHE DERIVED UNUSUAL PLEASURE FROM THEM BECAUSE OF HER ABILITY TO READ FRENCH, GERMAN AND DANISH AS WELL AS ENGLISH. NEVER TAKING ANY ACTIVE INTEREST IN THE OUTSIDE WORLD SHE WAS CONTENT IN HER HOME LIFE WITH HER FAMILY, FRIENDS, BOOKS AND NEEDLEWORK. IN HER LAST YEARS SHE HAS BEEN FAITHFULLY CARED FOR BY THE TWO DAUGHTERS WITH WHOM SHE MADE HER HOME.

A MEMBER OF THE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH SHE ALWAYS RADIATED A WONDERFUL CHRISTIAN SPIRIT. MRS. PETERSEN IS SURVIVED BY FIVE CHILDREN, CHRISTIAN F. PETERSEN OF SKOWHEGAN, MAINE, MRS. ALFRED (HENRIETTE CHARLOTTE PETERSEN) HUGHES OF CHICOPEE FALLS, MASSACHUSETTS, MRS. WALTER (MARRY BETTY PETERSEN) BEVERLY OF MACHIAS, AND THE MISSES WILHELMINA AND MARGRETHE OF HUDSON, MASSACHUSETTS. *PLEASE NOTE THAT CONRADINE’S FULL NAME THAT SHE WAS BORN WITH WAS: FREDERIKKE CONRADINE KRAG. FOR SOME REASON SHE USED CONRADINE. F. (KRAG) PETERSEN.

RESEARCH AND TRANSLATION OF THE DANISH RECORDS HAVE SHOWN THAT TH SURNAME WAS PETERSEN NOT PETERSON AS HAS BEEN SEEN IN SOME RECORDS.
