I was wandering if the town of Belfast in Maine is named after Belfast, Ireland or if early Irish immigrants came there from Quebec. I have a few unidentified photos of some people, women, men, and children taken at H.L. Kilgore photographer in Belfast, it looks like it could have been taken around 1900. I'm trying to connect these photos with my ancestors who are mostly in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, around Cowansville, Shefford, or Dunham. Any information would be appreciated.
