You may find family records in the old town records of Unity or Troy. Either try the town clerk in those towns, or better still, visit your closest LDS Family History Center, and have them order the microfilm records for you to look through.

I've gone through several towns in that era and area. Most town records were not indexed and poorly organized. One page might be town meeting minutes, the next who was appointed dog-catcher, and the next a listing of all of the births and marriages for a single family.

There was an older Phineas Bennett in Unity and Troy who might be George's father. You could also look for George's probate or will record.
