Hi. I made a serious error in the previous posting and a kind reader brought it to my attention. I had written that John Lane Morse of Montville, Maine died in 1846. This is an error. He was FORTY-SIX years of age when he died 6 Feb. 1830 in Montville, Waldo County, Maine. For more information go to the MORSE GenForum about him. At this point in time, we have no way of knowing what his cause of death was, without a diary, newspaper account or some such thing, which is highly improbable. As painful as it is to receive notices that we've made mistakes in our work, I applaud the thoughtful reader who brought it to my attention. At my age, I guess that I can make mistakes, but not nearly as bad as the email this morning about a man wp in years with a very aged mother in a nursing home who wanted to tell him something, "that he was adopted".
