Hi Suzanne --
My Colliers were from Hingham, MA, 1635. Many stayed in the Hingham/Cohasset area. However, one main branch moved to NJ pre-1700 and then, around 1800, one branch went to Chesterfield, MA, one to Farmington, ME, and one to Northport, ME. We can't find members of the NJ branch. Most of the other three branches moved on to the Midwest with many of them (like myself) winding up on the West Coast.
This was all to say, in a round-about way, that we have NO Colliers in CT (at least to our knowledge). However, there is a large unrelated Collier family that stems from Joseph (1625-1691) Collier and his wife, Elizabeth Sanford, of Hartford, CT.
Anyway, I did some specific research on Maria Collier, checking all possible alternative spellings. I failed to turn up anything even remote that might connect her with George Reynolds. I also reverse-searched for her through George Reynolds.
I really wonder where all the CT VR's are. There are many people I came across in this search that didn't turn up in the VR's and it seems to me that this state should, like MA, be pretty complete.
I searched through the Census Indexes for all Colliers of any spelling in the New Haven area in 1850 and 1860. Here, I turned up one possibility. The following is my own personal transcription of the actual 1860 Census image:
. Year: 1860
. State: Connecticut
. County: New Haven
. Township: Woodbridge
. Page: 1087
. Lines: 30-38
. Hse. Nr.: 82
. Fam. Nr.: 86
. Roll: M653_85

Edwin Collier, 39, M, Filer, PE 1,000, RE 200, b. CT
Maria " , 46, F, b. CT
Julia A. " , 16, F, Watch Setting, b. CT
Maria S. " , 14, F, b. CT
Edwin B. " , 11, M, b. CT
George N. " , 9, M, b. CT
Thomas H. " , 6, M, b. CT
Joseph D. " , 3, M, b. CT
Harriet E. " , 1, F, b. CT
As a result of this, I did another name search for Edwin and, sadly again, NO VR's!!!
This is the best I can do for your Maria and I sure hope this helps a little bit.
As always, best of luck,
