I am searching for the family of Nathan Bartlett of Hope and Appleton, Maine. Below is what I have found. Any connections out there? Nathan is listed in all of the Appleton census records from 1850 through 1870. In 1850, Joseph is the only child listed in his household. In the 1860-1880, he is only a household or two away from Joseph and wife Oraville Wentworth. In the 1830 census of Hope Maine, Nathan is listed as having a son under five, between five and ten; he is between 30 and 40. Females in his household are aged: one between 5 and 10; and one between 30 and 40. In the 1840 census of Hope, Waldo Co. ME Nathan is listed on page one. This census only gives numbers of persons in age groups in the household. Nathan had one son between the ages of 5-10; one over 10 and under 15; (joseph?); one between 40 and 50 (himself probably); one female over 15 and under 20 (a daughter?) another female between 40 and 50 (his wife probably). there are six other Bartlett households in Hope, Waldo Co., ME in the 1840 census. In 1850, Nathan is listed on p. 15 of 43 ancestry.com census in Appleton, then in Waldo Co., ME. He is listed as a joiner by occupation. Gives his place of birth as Maine in all census records 1850-70. The 1860 census shows Nathan Bartlett, age 60 and his wife Mary Bartlett, age 62. Nathan has real estate valued at $700 and personal worth valued at $400. Joseph lives right next door with his wife of ten years and two children listed. In 1860 his occupation is listed as blacksmith. In the 1870 census, he still lives close to Joseph in Appleton. His occupation on that census is that of a joiner. I did not see him in the 1880 census. Perhaps he died before then? However, here is a Nathan Bartlett living in Livermore, Androscoggin County, Maine with a Jacob F. Haskell family. It does not state a relationship with them. It also states he was born in Maine, but nothing on his parents.
