I am searching for any information and records concerning Ebenezer Dean and first wife, Elizabeth Brown, and children born to them in the town of Norridgewock, Maine. Ebenezer and Elizabeth were " between Norridgewock and the Seven Mile Brook " in the 1790 census, but no children had been born to them yet. They are said to have had 8 children, but only 2 sons survived to adulthood. In the 1800 census, this couple lived in Canaan in a part that is now part of Skowhegan. They sold their property to neighbor, Aaron Coleman, in the Spring of 1800 and moved and Elizabeth died shortly after in ca. 1800/01.
The ancestor I am researching is Elias Dean, who according to an old family bible, was born April 23, 1800. His son, Harrison's, death record states that his father, Elias Dean, was born in Norridgewock, Maine. I believe that he is probably the son of Ebenezer Dean and Elizabeth Brown. Can someone help me prove it? The first I know about Elias Dean is when he turns up in early adulthood as an early grantee of land in Wellington, Maine in the 1820's. He married Ruth Head in Wellington and had children and later moved to and lived out his life in Barnard, Maine. Census records state he was born in Maine.
Were there any other Dean families living in Norridgewock, Maine in the time frame of 1790-1801? Was Ebenezer Dean the only one? Any help at all to establish the link between Ebenezer Dean and Elias Dean would be very much appreciated.
