Hello Kathleen:

Thank you for replying. I am researching a family who lived in Skowhegan and West Pittsfield:

Joseph and Betsey Patten and their 12 children:

Joseph born abt. Oct. 18, 1777, possibly in Skowhegan
Betsey (maiden name unknown) born abt. 1778

Children:
Josiah - b. Nov. 18, 1798 in Skowhegan
Sophronia - b. June 28, 1800 in West Pittsfield
John W. - b. Feb. 23, 1802
Moody - b. Nov. 18, 1803
Joseph - b. Jan. 8, 1806
Leander - b. Dec. 11, 1807
Hiram - b. Aug. 27, 1812
Elvira Patten - b. May 15, 1816
Philenia - b. June 20, 1819
Benjamin - b. Sept. 1, 1819 (possibly a mistake)
Betsey - b.Sept. 9, 1822
Elbridge G. - b. Sept. 8, 1814

Here also are names of some of the grandchildren and great grandchildren:

Alonzo Patten, Reuel Patten, Glancey Patten, Edwin C. Patten, Fred B. Patten, Charles B. Patten, Perlan B. Patten, Henry Wilson Patten, Addison, Patten Isaiah Patten, William F. Patten, Joseph Patten, John Patten, Jotham Patten, Jacob M. Patten, George Wood Patten, Abel H. Patten, Joshua A. Patten, Alice Mary Patten, Idella Patten, Anna Arbilla Patten, Melora Angenette Patten, Charles La Forest Patten, Fred Elwood Patten, Isaiah R. Patten, Selina Patten, Lena Patten, Willie Patten, Mary Patten, Ferdinand Patten, Benjamin Patten, Ella Louise Patten, Arabine Patten, Nancy Patten, Selina Patten, Elizabeth Patten, Carrie Patten, Delphina Patten, Roselphia Patten, Judith Patten, Marrion Patten (male).

All lot of these lived in the Pittsfield, Hartland, Palmyra, Fairfield area.

I am descended from Joseph and Betsey's son, Elbridge G. Patten who married Mahala Curtis, daughter of James and Mahala Curtis. Mahala was born in Skowhegan. Elbridge and Mahala had about 11 children, one of whom was Ferdinand W. Patten (my great grandfather). He eventually moved to Lewiston, Maine and his sons moved to Norway/South Paris, Maine area, where I live now. I have found Elbridge, Mahala and family living in Hartland, Pittsfield and Fairfield in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses. Then I found Mahala and a few of her children living in Lewiston in 1880 and Ferdinand also living there in a different dwelling. I think Elbridge had died by then.

Anyway, I know this is alot of names, but if you see anything let me know. I am especially interested to see if I can find Betsey's maiden name and maybe who Joseph and Betsey's parents are. But any info on any of these Pattens would be welcome. Thank you for any help and I appreciate your willingness to look.

Have a great day.

Diana
