States: Maine: Somerset
Lynn: Let me just add this point concerning the East Somerset County Register: It covers the early period, and people getting married as late as 1888 probably wouldn't be included. Perhaps the Townsend family moved there in the 1860's. There is an Amos Townsend listed as a member of a committee in the 1790's in old Canaan Plantation, now known as Skowhegan. Probably you have already checked through all the census listings available for Townsends in the Pittsfield area, but if not it might be helpful.
