Try the surname Googins. It may be a different line entirely, but worth a try if you have hit a road block. The Googins name was prevalant in Maine. There is a book "The Googins Family in America" by Charlotte Googins and published in 1914. I bought it for my aunt and next time I visit her I will look at it to see if any Googins changed their name or moved to Orono.
