I have found one reason why Native American's are not mentioned in a lot of family genealogies, it seems that after the USA broke from England and started making its own laws one of the laws that was made was that native americans could no longer own land, and any families that had gotten their land from marrying Native Americans would stand to lose the land if it was found out they had Native American blood, so the Native American Ancestry was covered up and not spoken of lest someone found out and they lost the land.
