Rumford vital records do give Abigail's birth date as Mar. 16, 1797, but it should be noted that her elder brother Cotton Webster Harper's birth date is given as July 4, 1796. This would mean Abigail was born eight months and twelve days after her brother, biologically possible but genealogically suspicious. Needless to say, the 1798 date may be correct.
