Benton's of Fryeburg 1800
Posted by: David Paul Meyer Date: June 22, 2000 at 10:02:25

Recently I found that my ggg-grandfather John B. Benton was born about 1800 in Fryeburg, Maine. His son was a Page in the House of Representatives. For this reason, I believe he may have been related to Charles Swan Benton, a Representative to Congress, from New York; born in Fryeburg, July 12, 1810.
I also found a Joseph Benton in the 1800 Federal Census, York County (now Oxford County), District of Maine, Massachusetts (now the State of Maine). He appears to be the only Benton in Maine at that time.
I would surely be grateful for any information on any of these Benton's.
