"St. Luce" is the parish of Sainte-Luce and it is located in Frenchville ME. It was the third parish erected in the Upper Saint John River Valley (1841). It was initially responsible for everything west of Saint-Hilaire NB, but on both the American and Canadian sides of the river. This responsibility continued, despite the establishment of the international border in 1842, until the sorting out of ecclesiastical authority between the U.S. and Canada and the erection of new parishes in 1869.
Sainte-Luce recently lost its resident priest (it is now served by the priest at Sainte-Agathe, Saint Agatha ME). It still retains its records, however the parish secretary is available for genealogical research only on a very limited basis. Here is the address and phone:
