I found Lemuel S. Rice on the 1860 N.C. census,Hertford county,Murfreesboro Post office, Teacher
L. S. Rice age 54 born Lincoln county,Maine a teacher
S.E. Female age 44 born Bertis county,N.C.
W. C. son age 15 born Tyrrell county,N.C.
H. M. dau. age 13 born Tyrrell county,N.C.
S. E. dau. age 9 born Tyrrell county,N.C.
J. D. Son age 7 born Tyrrell county,N.C.
you can get census record free from most local libraries with your library card number and last four numbers of you phone number ~ using Heritage Quest ~ call them to see.
