Maine State Archives look up

PLEASE forgive me in advance if I am creating a topic that already exists or if this is the wrong way to use the site. I was wondering if anyone would be able to do a death record look-up for me using the microfilm at the Maine State Archives in Augusta. I called and spoke to someone who said I could search in person or order a record through the Vital Records office but because of the year there may be restrictions and I am not a direct descendant.

I'm looking for the death record for Mary Wallace (Kelly). She died November 5, 1942 in Portland, Maine. I have an obituary for her but no death record and I am very interested in seeing how the parent names are recorded. Her husband Colman Wallace died or was buried with Mary about October 24, 1947, also living in Portland, Maine. They lived at 104 Mass Ave there for many years. So I guess I am looking for two records information.

If anyone in the area frequents the State Archives there, or would be willing to check I would greatly appreciate it. I can even remunerate accordingly, the woman on the phone said it costs 50 cents for a copy!

Thanks for any help.

Adam
