Hi Patricia;

I based my assumption that Joshua relocated to MA in 1879 from Mass. Archives online. They list a "male" Ford coming in 1879 age 35. That info fits his parameters. I have a photocopy of their marriage record form Mass. Archives, Sumner ME, is his place of birth but has nearby Paris, ME as his residence at time of marriage. If that be the case it is even more puzzling because how did he and Ellen meet? She lists Boston as her residence on the mariage record. More puzzling thing is the only census record I can't find of Joshua is the 1880.

I will check out Le Etta's census lead. It is quite possible that some one took in Le Etta. But who? Joshua seemed to have a habit of not acknowledging his offspring. My great grandfather Everett was raised by his mother's side of the family and his older brother Elbridge by Joshua's parents. There are two 1870 census records of Eunice. One in Fort Fairfield, ME w/Joshua as neighbors to the parents of her first husband William F. Hopkinson and the other in Unity, ME, without Joshua living next to her brother Cyrus M. Decker. Everett was born in Oct. 1870.

My family had no knowledge of Elbridge and from old web-postings Elbridge's descendants were equally unaware of my side of the family. Point of note, it was Elbridge's side that "discovered" Le Etta but had no luck researching her also. She disappears after the 1920 census. She married an Edmund Gullage and they moved around quite a bit. Both worked for the Salavation Army, including their son Edmund Jr. Final note, I've researched the entire Ford side of the family and no Le Etta exists with any of the Fords.

Thank you for your help and "forcing" me to scrutinize the records I do have more closely. Ryan
