I have a Chambers in my background too of whom I've hit a dead end. The info I have on him is as follows: Joseph A. Chambers, b. abt 1805, ? Nova Scotia (got this info from census records of his children listing their father's birthplace), married Weltha Osier (her 2nd husband) abt. 1840 in Bremen, Maine. His occupation was given as "fisherman." Joseph and Weltha Chambers had 4 children - Emma A., John W.,child (died young), and Helen. It appears that Weltha died before 1864 and Joseph remarried to a Susan Fish of Boothbay and they resided in Boothbay, Maine. The older children of Joseph and Weltha stayed in the Bremen/Waldoboro area. Joseph Chambers died before 1880 as he does not appear in the 1880 census.
According to the census of 1850, Joseph Chambers father was born in New Jersey and his mother was born in New York.
Its very likely this Chambers family was a loyalist family since there were many from the NY area and they went to Canada- primarily Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
A possible brother to Joseph was a James Chambers b. abt 1799 in Nova Scotia.
Anyway, very little info. The Chambers family was obviously not local to the Bremen/Waldoboro area. I'm descended from the oldest daughter Emma who married George Groton of Waldoboro.
