spent a little time looking around today and so far I found what I believe to be your Sumner Johnson living in Orono, ME 1850 and then in Pittsfield,ME 1860. Appears he is a son of Stephen and Eunice Johnson. Then I found this website showing the same info. Maybe you can contact the owner of the site and see what kind of sources they have.

1229. Sumner Johnson (Stephen7, Nathaniel6, Lewis5, John4, Isaac3, Humphrey2, John1).

Removed to Aroostook County, Me., where he was drowned.

He married Lauretta York.

They had the following children:
i. A child.

ii. A child.

iii. A child.

The link to the site is: http://kinnexions.com/kinnexions/johnson/rr01/rr01_398.htm#P6228

you can still email me at home if you want more help on earlier records and/or copies of the census pages.
