Looking to trace Doucette to Canada through Maine

I'm looking to trace my family back a few generations. Noone in my family has tried this, so they have no info for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My Grandfather was Robert Joseph Doucette, born April 7 1938, died June 5th 1995. His brother was Louis Jr., and sisters were Linda, Theresa, Diane, Evette, Shirley, Dorothy, Marjorie, and Geraldine.
I know his Dad would've been Louis.
As far as I know he was born in Hartford, CT. I remember them taking trips to Maine alot when I was little to visit family in Bangor, I believe. I was told that my Great Granparents were from Quebec.
I can try to find other info from living relatives. If anyone can give me some helpful websites or references to get this search going I would really appreciate it.....

Robert B. Doucette
