Hi Laura, Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I have just started to investigate this Rossiter branch and don't have any certificates or the information on them. I posted their family entry in the 1880 US Census as my starting point. However, the 1870 US Census is slightly different:- 1870 United States Federal Census about John Rositer Name: John Rositer Estimated Birth Year: abt 1829 Age in 1870: 41 Birthplace: Maryland Home in 1870: Baltimore Ward 3, Baltimore (Independent City), Maryland Race: White Gender: Male Value of real estate: Post Office: Baltimore Household Members: Name Age John Rositer 41 Mary Rositer 35 Charles Rositer 9 Fannie Rositer 7 Ferdinand Rositer 5 Lizzie Rositer 3 Sarah Moody 18 All born Maryland. John is a boat builder. Sarah Moody a servant. The birth years vary slightly between the 2 censuses and John is now born Maryland not Maine. Lizzie looks to have died between censuses too. There are a lot of John Rossiters and it's difficult to be sure that you have the same John between censuses. Also wondered if there were changes in state or city boundaries which would be recorded differently in the various censuses. Haven't got this family in 1860 so can't explain some of the variations at present. Hope this helps. Best wishes Kevin Notify Administrator about this message?
