Do you have his marriage cert, death record, or obit? any of those will probably give some clues. His birthplace is in question. I see him already married and living in the 3-ward of Baltimore in 1860. That year he is listed as born in New York. I have some Maryland sources that say he was married 20 March 1856 in Baltimore if you want to see if maybe there is a record with the city clerk. Not sure what a record from that era/place will include. If you can't get the 1860 census page email me and I will get it for you. I looked closely at the 1850 census, but there is no John Roseter/Rositer/Rosseter/Rossiter etc.. who stands out as yours.
