The only info I found on Ancestry.com was that John M. Corbett was listed as James M. with his parents in the

1860 U. S. Federal Census in Bangor, Penobscot, Maine:

Isaac J. Corbett 39 Mariner
Martha E. Corbett 23
James M. Corbett 5
Octavia A. Corbett 3
Arcadine Corbett 1
All were born in Maine

1870 U. S. Federal Census Richmond, Sagadahoc, Maine

James Corbett 39 Sailor
Hannah E. Corbett 19 Keeping House
James M. Corbett 15 Laborer
Octavia A. Corbett 13 At school
Avia A. E. Corbett 11 " "
All were born in Maine

I'm assuming the middle initial "J" of Isaac J. Corbett must stand for James. The age of 39 in both census would throw you off but may have been a simple mistake. There are enough similarities that I feel this is the same family. Possibly the mother Martha may have died and the elder James remarried Hannah.
That's all I found after a quick search. Hope it helps!
