Smith is her maiden name. In 1910, she is married to H. Burton Pierce. It's the first marriage for both, being married for 12 years. She is 41 & has had no children. In 1920, she's 52 & widowed, no children.
Here's another marriage for John. He always uses a "T", so is assume the "A" is wrong.

In 1910, I see John & Priscilla. It's his 2nd marriage & her 1st, married 8 years. She is 67. I also see her in 1850. Her parents are Hezekiah & Sally. At the end of the household is 21 year-old Rebecca Mathews. I think this is Rebecca Ames & that she was married prior to marrying John.

The 1900 census shows that Rebecca has had 6 children, 4 of which are living. 28 year-old "Edward" is with her & John. The census also shows that John immigrated in 1860. The 1910 shows 1862, which can't be right if he & Rebecca were really married in 1861.
