Seeking any info before or after 1860 for Richard Carlton, b. abt. 1820, seaman and wife Elizabeth, b. abt. 1829, both born in Maine.

I do know that in 1868 Richard was a ship's captain in the employ of Pope & Talbot Co. in Kitsap County, Washington Territory. The founders of the company were also originally from Maine.

A match for Elizabeth appears in the 1870 US Census, living in San Francisco. No mention of Richard before or after 1860.

Thanks in advance for any help! ~Steve
