Pat thanks to your having an alternative email address on hand-- as you know we have had some interesting conversations. YES... the Wood (s) are among the Irish that did settle in the Kennebec Valley area of Maine. In this case from Cork, Ireland.

While I am not at all sure that my great- great grandfather, Butler Wood or other Wood men ever were a presence at Fort Western in Augusta Maine -- at least no one ever mentioned this name on my many tours of the Fort----Butler, however, did serve in the War of 1812 and his bride, Sally is assumed Abenaki.

Again--- thanks -- the only Vassalboro lineage that I have not resolved to date is that of the Wood (s) but you have made my DAY and have been very helpful here.
